William Kent (1799-1870), a wine merchant of Cheltenham, England, was the son of William Kent (1751-1812), captain of HMS Supply. He visited Sydney from 12 Dec. 1838 to 2 Jan. 1839. The property referred to in the documents may have been several farms which his father had owned near Kissing Point, Sydney, and which were sold between 1835 and 1841

Assignments and notice of assignment, 1836 and 1838, by William Kent to John Miller of Lambeth, Surrey, bookseller, relating to a share in property in New South Wales. Captain Philip Parker King acted in New South Wales as agent in the sale of the property. The documents were drawn up and signed in Cheltenham, England, and bear receipts for moneys received. Power of Attorney, 14 Mar. 1863, from Rev. Henry Tingcombe of Camden, N.S.W., to John Pakenham Stilwell relating to premises in George St, Sydney
