Johnson Frederick Hayward (1822-1912) arrived in Adelaide in 1847 from England. He originally settled at Pekina near Burra, S.A. Martinus Peter Hayward (1817-1904) arrived in Australia as surgeon on the same ship as J.F. Hayward. He too settled in South Australia and was later surgeon on another immigrant ship from England

1) Typescript copy of Johnson Frederick Hayward's "Incidents in my Australian Life" being an account of life on a sheep station 1846-56. It was probably written about 1872. 2) Three journals kept by J.F. Hayward describing journals to and from England 1858-59, and in Europe 1859. Diaries of Martinus Peter Hayward 1863-64, of voyages between England and Australia. 3) Testimonial 1857 to M.P.Hayward as candidate for post of South Australian Emigration Agent in England, containing many signatures. 4) A number of portraits of various members of the Hayward family
