    The Church Missionary Society for Africa and the East was founded in London in 1799. The New Zealand mission began in 1814 and the Australian mission in 1825. The New Zealand mission was known as the Australasian mission until 1841

    M218 at FM4/1498: Station estimates and accounts, 1823-80, statistics, 1872-80, medical certificates, 1847-74, correspondence, 1821-35, about the Australian mission and the Committee of Native Institution; documents concerning land matters, 1845-76; miscellaneous papers, 1820-55, and pamphlets, 1856-76; letters to Home secretaries, 1821-68.
    M218-236 at FM4/1498-1516: Papers of missionaries, agents and lay workers at the various stations, arranged alphabetically by the writer's surname.
    M237 at FM4/1517: New Zealand letters 1822-60, being approximately 700 pages of typescript, from H. Williams and others, many of the letters on land dealings.
