Committee and sub-committee meeting minutes 1799-1884. The minutes of committees and sub-committees are entered in chronological order, and contain extracts from and summaries of reports, letters and decisions reached. The Clerical Sub-committee received correspondence from aspiring missionaries, including testimonials and recorded appointments and retirements; the Accounts Sub-Committee minutes include lists of expenses, supplies to be forwarded to the mission stations, bequests and donations; the Correspondence Sub-Committee received correspondence covering the whole range of missionary activity, such as medical reports from missionaries wishing to return home, complaints from Colonial Governors about political activity of Society personnel, and requests for guidance on policy towards employing indigenes as lay teachers in schools
