Diagrams of a semaphore and signals, alphabetical list of words, and hand written notes in sections divided into the following headings: persons mechanic, boats marine, nautica, places signalizing, picquets patroles, absconding, arms bedding clothing, tools, provisions stores quantities, time (points, mounts, hills, rocks, roads, days, necks, cracks, rivers ...), Sentences, Mulgrave Battery Code. At the back of the volume are lists of constables, civil officers, female residents, and prison ships.

This volume was owned by John Watt Beattie, (1859-1930) who was interested in acquiring material on Port Arthur -- Curator of Photographs, Dec. 2003.
The back cover has detached from volume.
