    In 1828, Cunningham discovered a way from Brisbane to the Darling Downs through a pass that was named Cunningham's Gap in his honor.

  • Scope and Content
    Report addressed to Lieutenant General Darling on the journey undertaken in 1828 and 14 June to 21 July 1829 to Brisbane, Moreton Bay, and the Great Dividing Range to explore these areas more extensively and the sources of the Brisbane and Bremer Rivers. Includes the course taken, places of encampment, observations on the landscape, description of provisions, and interactions with Indigenous Australians. The information is organised by the following topics or geographical areas: Laidley's Plain, Lockyer's Creek, Hay's Peak, Kemp's Plains, Brisbane River, North West Branch, Intercourse with Natives, and conclusion, 12 December 1829.
