  Address reads: 'To Edward Knox Esq. Colonial Sugar Refining Company, Sydney N.S.W. Dec 1877. Dear Sir, It is with feelings of the deepest regret, that we the employees of the Brisbane Sugar Refinery, hear of your retirement from active participation in the affairs of the Company. For nearly a quarter of a century, many of us have experienced your uniformly amiable, just and gentlemanly disposition, and we desire to express the sincerest respect and affection which our hearts cherish towards you. Knowing how inadequately words can express our feelings, we beg your acceptance of this Address, not for its intrinsic value, but as an expression of our unfeigned respect and esteem. We trust dear Sir, that in your prospective voyage, Divine Providence may both guide and guard you and your family; and that in a short time your safe return may be vouchsafed, to this the land of your adoption, where may you long enjoy all the peace and happiness which we most sincerely wish you.
