  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    Lorna Thomas retired as a cricketer in the late 1950s after a long career playing district and interstate matches. In 1960 she took up team management and went on to manage five international teams including four overseas tours. In 1978, after almost a lifetime's involvement with women's cricket, she retired from her postion as manager of the NSW and Australian teams. She was awarded an MBE for services to cricket and was made a life member of Women's Cricket Australia. -- Reference: Curator of Manuscripts, Nov. 2003

    Item 1
    Miniature cricket bat, wooden with black rubber over handle, one sticker on the front and two on the back. The label on the front has black printed text, "Norstar Ultimate". On the front of the bat are signatures of the NSW Team Canberra 1987/1988, in blue ink. Members include Lyn Larsen, Belinda Haggatt, Cathy Smith, and Denise Annetts.
    L 38.3 x W 4.7 cm.

    Item 2
    Miniature cricket bat, wooden with green rubber over handle to assist with gripping, and two stickers (one front and one on back). The front sticker has printed text, "NSWIS New Institute of Sport Clubs NSW. NSWIS Blues 2000-2001". The sticker on the back bears text, "Womens Cricket New South Wales". The front of the bat has been signed by the players in blue ink. Some of these include, Belinda Clark, Lisa Keightley, and Debbie Nelson.
