    Objects - 1 cedar trunk, covered in black hide with brass plaque on lid & brass handles on either side, metal studs on edges & corners. Key lock at front, ring-shaped handle above the keyhole. Key, on purple ribbon, inside trunk. Trunk interior Dutch giltpaper-lined - 32 x 64 x 25.5 cm.

    Undated. Dated from time Macquarie was Governor of NSW
    According to Dr James Broadbent, Historic Houses Trust of N.S.W., the trunk is lined with paper that orginated from China.

    ""The first owner of this travelling trunk (is said) to have been Governor Macquarie. Then , Rev. R. Cartwright, Colonial Chaplain. Next, Rev. J. A. Waddell, the Chaplain's nephew, who gave it to Miss S. Cartwright, the Chaplain's grand-daughter; year 1932"" -- engraved on brass plaque on lid
    ""Ann Cartwright the gift of her Mother. August 1830"" -- written in ink on inside lid
