- ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY
Edward Forde, watercolourist, surveyor, and draughtsman, was born in Monkstown, Ireland to Henry Forde and Ellen (nee Adams). From 1857-1859 Forde worked in the New Zealand Department of Harbours and Rivers. In the early 1860's he became chief draughtsman in the New South Wales Department of Harbour and River Navigation based in the north coast of N.S.W. Forde married Helena Scott, painter and natural history collector, at Ash Island, Newcastle in 1864.
