  Ingmar Bjorksten, Swedish critic and novelist, met Patrick White at White's home at Castle Hill in 1962. Bjorksten was so impressed by White's work that he campaigned to increase his international reputation. Bjorksten's efforts were influential in securing the Nobel Prize for Literature for Patrick White in 1973. Bjorksten's critical study 'Patrick White: epikern fran Australien' was published in the same year.

  33 letters and postcards from Patrick White to Ingmar Bjorksten, 19 October 1962 to 3 December 1985; photocopy of letter from Patrick White to the King of Sweden and members of the Swedish Academy, 24 November 1973, acknowledging the award of the Nobel Prize and explaining that he is unable to accept in person; photograph of White taken by Dr Leopold Pavlovic, inscribed in White's hand 'Ingmar Bjorksten'; 18 photographic negatives of White's visit to Sweden in 1976; photograph of White and Manoly Lascaris at the opening of 'Big Toys' (on verso of letter written Dec. 1977).
