    Phillip Parker King, naval officer and hydrographer, entered the navy in 1807. He served in the North Sea, the Bay of Biscal, and the Mediterranean over the next six years initially as midshipman on the ship Diana then was promoted to master's mate in 1810. -- Reference: Australian Dictionary of Biography.
