  • General note

"This photograph is a trichrome carbro, and no hand colouring has been done other than the normal amount of spotting that would be done on an ordinary black and white print. The negatives of this photograph were made on a roll of panchromatic film size 4 1/4" x 3 1/4"." -- Note by C.H. Collis, on two of the photographs.
Trichrome or tricolor carbro prints: "Photographic prints made from color separation negatives printed as three bromide prints, each of which is then pressed against a sensitized carbon tissue of the appropriate color. The tissues are then superimposed to create the final color photograph. Chiefly used ca. 1900-1930s." -- Reference: Thesaurus for Graphic Materials II: Genre and Physical Characteristic Terms (TGM II) / Compiled by Prints and Photographs Division, Library of Congress.
