    John Burnett, born in Scotland in 1781, was a civil servant and the first Colonial Secretary of Van Diemen's Land from 1826 to 1835.
    George Arthur, a soldier and colonial administrator, served as Lieutenant Governor of Van Diemen's Land from 1824 to 1836.
