  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    George Caley (1770-1829) was appointed by Sir Joseph Banks to collect plant specimens in New South Wales. He arrived in Sydney in 1800, became superintendent of the botanic gardens at Parramatta until 1808, and later returned to England. He was superintendent of the botanic gardens at St. Vincent in the West Indies from 1816 to 1822.
