    Charles Braham Nathan, the son of musician Isaac Nathan was born in London 7 February 1816 and qualified as a surgeon in 1837. He migrated to Australia with his family in 1840 and married Harriet Fisher in 1842. The couple had 15 children. He pioneered the use of ether in Australia and played a prominent part in medical and musical affairs in Sydney. He died on 20 September 1872. Harriet Nathan died on 13 May 1879
