    Signaller Charles James Britton, a Public Works Department assistant tester of Narrandera, New South Wales was born in Walgett, New South Wales and was 37 years when he enlisted in Sydney, 9 Sept. 1916. He embarked from Sydney on board HMAT A68 Anchises, 24 Jan. 1917 and served with the 33rd, 35th and 36th Battalions, A.I.F. in France and Belgium. He returned to Australia on the Themistocles, 12 June 1919
