    Hanbury Clements, an Englishman, who journeyed across France on foot, 1814, en route from Verdun to Portsmouth. He later settled in Australia where, although a Lieutenant, he became known as Captain Clements, owning several ships

    a. Diary relating the 'Adventures of Mr. Hanbury Clements from his leaving Verdun to his arrival at Portsmouth, 1814,' (12 Jan - 10 May, 1814). MS. The diary, beginning in Jan., 1814, traces Clements' journey with several others through France. However it is incomplete, ending with their arrival in Paris, May 1814. Carbon typescript
