    Henry Kendall, 1839-1882, began writing poetry at an early age and began to publish it c.1859. From 1869-1870 he tried unsuccessfully to make a living from his poetry in Melbourne, Vic. and he returned to Sydney, N.S.W. in poverty. From 1873-1875 he lived at Gosford, N.S.W. In 1875 he moved to Camden Haven, N.S.W. and in 1881, when he became inspector of forests, to Cundletown, N.S.W. In 1868, Kendall married Charlotte Rutter and they had five surviving children including Frederick Clarence Kendall
