Harriet Hanks, 1808-1893, married Thomas Dean Rowe in 1838 and later married Dr William Sherwin. Her son George Taylor Rowe, 182- -1859, married Phoebe Melville. Their children included Alice Louisa, who married John Mackeller Brown, George William Sydney Rowe, 1850-1931, Clare Eliza, who married Etienne de Mestre, Charles Dean and Edwin Sherwin. The family had a long association with horse racing in New South Wales
