  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    Henry Gullett (1837-1914), journalist and parliamentarian, was born at Devon, England, son of Henry and Isabella Gullett. The family arrived at Melbourne from England in 1853. He worked first on his father's property in Victoria before travelling to the Victorian goldfields for work. In 1863 Gullett joined the Argus as a reporter. During his career as a journalist he was editor of several newspapers, including the Australasian, Daily Telegraph and Sydney Morning Herald. Gullett was a member of the NSW Legislative Council (1908-1914).
