    James Busby, 1801-1871, viticulturist and civil servant, migrated to New South Wales, 1824. Viticulture was his main interest. In 1832 he was appointed British Resident in New Zealand and remained in New Zealand until his death
  • Scope and Content
    Typescript copies of the original holograph letters held by the Auckland Museum Institute. Included within this collection are copies of James Busby's letters to his father, John Busby, 1823, to his brother, George 1823-1847 and to various officials,1833-1870 mainly relating to his claims for land in New Zealand.
