    Joseph Mason, ca. 1799-1863, and Robert Mason, born ca. 1808, were transported to New South Wales for their part in the English agricultural risings of 1830. Joseph Mason was granted a pardon in 1836 and returned to England. Robert was pardoned in 1837 and lived in Port Stephens, Dungog, and Brookfield before returning to England in 1864. His daughter, Lydia, settled in New Zealand after her marriage in 1861
