    G. C. Cooper, of Osterley, Inverell, N.S.W. enlisted on 27 Aug. 1914 aged 21, describing his occupation as Colonial Experience. He embarked for Egypt on board HMAT A16 Star of Victoria, 20 Oct. 1914 and served with the Machine Gun Section 1st Australian Light Horse Anzac Mounted Division in Gallipoli, May-Sept. and Nov. 1915, evacuating on 19 Dec. 1915 and in Egypt and Palestine 1916-1917. He returned to Australia on HMAT Devon arriving in Australia on 24 November 1918
