    Surveyor and explorer, accompanied Ernest Giles on an expedition to Central Australia, 1873, and again in 1875 on a journey from Beltana, S.A. to Perth. In 1878-1879 he made attempts to open up the Nullarbor Plain for pastoral purposes. He joined N.S.W. Dept. of Lands as a surveyor in 1891
