    Lieutenant in the Bombay Horse Artillery, came to Sydney on medical furlough in 1836. A civil engineer, he was responsible for the construction of the Fitzroy Dry Dock. He became first commandant of the N.S.W. Volunteer Artillery Corps on its formation in 1855
