Sir Evan Nepean (1751-1822) was Under-Secretary in the Home Office when N.S.W. was founded. He became Secretary for the Admiralty, 1795, and was Governor of Bombay, 1812-1819. His brother, Nicholas, arrived in Sydney, 1790, in charge of the N.S.W. Corps and was in command at Norfolk Island during 1793. Major Evan Fyers, a descendant, compiled the collection of papers and the family pedigree

Elphinstone. ii) Papers, 1792-1822, including material relating to Bombay and St. Vincent, Windward Islands. B. Notes compiled by Fyers (pre 1937) containing biographical information and transcription of documents. II. Nepean family, 1795-1908 including papers of Thomas Nepean, Sir M. H. Nepean, Capt.
