Fairbridge Farm School was established on a 1500 acre property four miles from Molong, NSW. From 1938 to 1973 some 1200 British and Australian boys and girls were brought up there to learn country skills and ways, in keeping with the ideals of Kingsley Fairbridge, founder of the Fairbridge Farm Schools of Australia and Canada. Fairbridge was closed down in 1973 and the property sold.

Ian Bayliff was at Fairbridge Farm School with David Hill in the 1950s. They later met again and collaborated on research for David Hill's 'The Forgotten Children: Fairbridge Farm School and its betrayal of Britain's child migrants to Australia'. North Sydney, N.S.W. : William Heinemann, 2008.
