Charles Whalan, transported to N.S.W., 1791, was commander of the Governor's Bodyguard of Light Horse during Macquarie's Administration. He was granted land at Prospect, N.S.W. 1821 and settled there on Macquarie's return to England - Scope and ContentCorrespondence and papers, 1810-1834 of members of the Whalan family, including letters to Charles Whalan from Mrs. Macquarie and Lachlan Macquarie, the younger, and copies of letters to Mrs. Macquarie from James Birnie.
