  This material was collected by Parkes both directly (through corresponding with persons represented) or by more indirect means (such as gifts or purchase)
  Henry O'Farrell was born in Ireland in 1833. He gained notoriety for a failed assassination attempt on Prince Alfred, the Duke of Edinburgh, at Clontaf, Mar. 1868.   ca. 1705, 1824-1832, 1843-1868, 1890; Correspondence addressed to Parkes (letters and envelopes) as well as material collected by him, printed leaflet "The standard on fair trade", double-sided sheet The Edinburgh Courant (Feb. 1705), engraving of commander of the Parisian National Guard in 1789, leaflet of Anne Hathaway's cottage at Shottery. • General note
  
  The contents of A 19 were removed from a previous binding in 1983, deacidified, and rebound. The spine title (of the previous binding) was "Autographs" and this was also embossed on the front cover. The volume was repaged in 1983 (these are the numbers with circles). Pages with these numbers, followed by an alphabetical suffix, were attached to the page with the same number without the suffix, for example p.37A was attached to p.37. The photographs were transferred to the Pictures Collection.
