  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    Vern Polley was born in Brisbane in 1918. After serving in the RAAF from 1939 to 1942 he flew DC4 and DC 6 aircraft for Australian airlines. This was followed by ten years as instructor for Pakistan Airlines. His later years included flying in Lebanon, the Israeli Six-day War, flying mercenaries out of the Belgian Congo, and flying Caraveles and Boeing 737s all over Europe and North Africa.

    1939-2001; Pilot's flying log books of Vern Polley.
    1940-1944; Facsimile copy of RAF Pilot's Log Book of Wing Commander Guy Gibson V.C. (of the Dam Busters).
    1942-45; Folder of printed material found after V.E. day by R.M. Hines. Includes Aircraft Recognition volumes, photographs of aeroplanes and newscuttings.
    1942, 1946; Copies of 'The Aeroplane'.
