Harry Hawkins, labourer of North Sydney, New South Wales was born in Port Adelaide, South Australia and enlisted in the First AIF on 14 July 1915 at the age of 37. He embarked from Sydney on board HMAT A32 Themistocles on 5 October 1915 and served in the 1st Battalion in Egypt and France. He was wounded in action in France, July 1916 and again in May 1917 and was hospitalised in England. He returned to Sydney on the Suevic in 1918. Edith May Forshaw (nee Hawkins), his daughter, was born in 1911. - Scope and ContentTranscripts of Harry Hawkins' diary and Edith May Forshaw's memoirs with additional material by members of their family.
