  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    Miklukho-Maklai, born in Russia, was a scientist and explorer who travelled extensively throughout the Pacific Islands, New Guinea, and the Malay Peninsula. Usually known as Nicholas Maclay, he founded the Marine Biological Station, Watson's Bay, Sydney in 1881. In 1884 he married Margaret Emma Clark, daughter of Sir John Robertson.
