Steele Rudd, the pseudonym for Arthur Hoey Davis, was born at Drayton on the Darling Downs, Queensland in 1868. His father, blacksmith Thomas Davis, selected land at Emu Creek in 1870 and the family moved there in 1875. A prolific writer Rudd is probably best known for his stories and sketches of selection life in Queensland, first published in the Bulletin and later published by the Bulletin as collections, On our selection (1899) and Our new selection (1903). - Scope and Content1929; 'School at Emu Creek', being ms. radio script or short story with extensive annotations and corrections, 20 pp., signed by Steele Rudd and bound in volume. Annotations include 'Broadcasted 25/11/29'. Volume includes black and white photograph of Memorial to Steele Rudd at his birthplace. (Call No.: MLMSS 7143/1)
