    L. L. Woolacott, dramatist and author, was editor of various literary journals including Flame: a magazine of fiction, Triad: a journal devoted to literacy, pictorial, musical and dramatic art and the ABC Weekly. He also published Playwriting: an unconventional text-book (1942).

    Gilbert Mant (1902- ), journalist, was born at Sydney, son of William H. Mant. He worked for the Daily Telegraph and Reuter's before enlisting with the AIF during World War II. After the war he returned to work for Reuter's and published a number of books including Grim glory (1942) and You'll be sorry (1944) describing his time as a soldier and war correspondent. In 1954 Mant was a feature writer and columnist with the Sun-Herald, Sydney.

    4 July 1954; Letter received from Gilbert Mant, being ts. autograph letter, 1 pp., on Australian Newspapers Limited letterhead. Letter addressed to 'Dear Les' mentions a recent controversy arising from comments made by Mant in his regular newspaper column concerning his dislike of cubist art and gives his general impressions of modern art; comments on being included in a recent work by Woolacott; mentions Mant's work as a journalist; makes reference to Dubbo.
