  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

Ida Rentoul Outhwaite (1888-1960) illustrated Australian childrens books and was best known for fantasy and fairy themes. She had no formal training and worked during a period when female illustrators of books for children were not seriously regarded. Her exhibitions and books were not well reviewed, possibly for these reasons. Retrospectively she is considered to have been a uniquely talented illustrator.
