  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    John Bingle of `Puen Buen', Upper Hunter, NSW, had three children: Mary Elizabeth, Sarah Cross and John Rayden. His neighbour was surgeon, politician and amateur photographer, Joseph Docker of `Thornthwaite'. See the Australian Dictionary of Biography, Vol.1

  • Scope and Content
    Typical of the period, album contains manuscript poems, music, autographs, photographs, sentimental prints and miscellaneous drawings by Sarah C. Bingle and others. Of particular interest are:
    Calotypes (or salt prints from glass negatives), ca. 1850-1855, taken by Joseph Docker of `Thornthwaite', the property abutting John Bingle's property `Puen Buen' (Call No.: pp.39,73,97,99,105,119,143)
