  • Scope and Content
    William Alexander Long (seated left); Mrs Isabella Long Snr. (nee Walford) (standing on steps); Man seated on the steps, appears to be William Bede Dalley (Dalley married Eleanor Jane Long). "Sparke" probably refers to members of the Sparke family (at right).
  • General note

    Tusculum, designed by John Verge, was originally built for merchant A. B. Spark in 1831-35.
    Sparke family connection - Isabella Long's (nee Walford) sister Mary married John Tovey Simons in Hobart 1819. They had 4 children. After John Simons died in 1829, Mary married John Sparke in Sydney 1830. They had 6 children.
    Photograph dated from the first listing of photographer Wm. Sargent, The Corso, Manly, in Sands' Sydney Directory 1886, and the death of W. B. Dalley in October 1888.
