  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    Anna Elizabeth Blaxland, the fourth child of John and Harriott Blaxland, nee de Marquet, married Thomas Walker, Deputy Assistant Commissary General of Tasmania.

    This watch was presented to Anna Elizabeth Walker on her wedding day, 4 January 1823, by her mother, Harriott Blaxland.

  • Scope and Content
    The glass is thick and dome-shaped, with a flat centre. The dial is of white enamel, around the edge of which are the hour numerals, 12, 3, 6, 9, each being separated by small stars, representing the other hours.

    Inside the cover is engraved the Blaxland coat of arms, with the motto 'Be just and fear Not'.
