George Bass set out from Port Jackson on 3 December 1797 in a 28 feet whaleboat. He sailed south finding the Shoalhaven River, Twofold bay, Wilson's Promontory and Western Port. - Scope and ContentThis chart shows Phillip Island and the southern part of French Island and gives coordinates, rise of tide and soundings in fathoms. It is on one sheet with charts of Port dalrymple, the southernmost of Furneaux's Islands and Twofold Bay.
