Flinders and George Bass set out from Port Jackson on 7 October 1798 in the sloop 'Norfolk', accompanied by the private vessel 'Nautilus' (Captain Bishop, Supercargo Roger Simpson), to circumnavigate Van Diemens Land. They reached Twofold Bay on 9 October, and spent four days surveying the bay. - Scope and ContentThis chart shows coordinates, soundings in fathoms, and information on tides and is on one sheet with charts of Port Dalrymple, Western Port and the southernmost of Furneaux's Islands.
