Peter William Standish MacCallum (1927-1998) began his architecture studies in 1946 at Sydney University taking his degree in 1950. He registered with the NSW Board of Architects in the same year. In 1949, he was working for Douglas Snelling as a drafter in Sydney (signing drawings as PWM from 1949-1951). In 1952, he was working in the office of John Lautner in Los Angeles California and two Lautner designs are in the MacCallum collection. While he had a few private commissions in the early 1950s, MacCallum became a partner in the practice of E.A. and T.M. Scott in ca. 1956 [date not confirmed]. The E.A. and T.M. Scott practice carried out a wide range of domestic, educational and commercial commissions. He later became a Sydney University lecturer in Specifications. He was elected a Fellow of the RAIA in 1980 and was an active member of the National RAIA Practice Committee. The RAIA endowed the Peter MacCallum Practice Prize in 1999.
