ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

Flinders explored the Furneaux Islands group twice: in February 1798 in the colonial schooner 'Francis' on a voyage to salvage cargo from the wrecked East Indiaman 'Sydney Cove' and then in October 1798 during his circumnavigation of Tasmania in the sloop 'Norfolk'.
Scope and Content
Nautical survey of Preservation, Clarke and Cape Barren Islands. Shows the tracks of the 'Sydney Cove', 'Francis', 'Norfolk' and the snow 'Nautilus'.
