  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

The Sydney May Day Committee organises the annual May Day march in Sydney, a tradition of the labour movement in N.S.W. since the 1890s. The Trade Union Socialist Activities' Association (T.U.S.A.A.) was formed at a meeting in the Sydney Trades Hall on 12 October 1970. It was an organisation made up of individual trade union members, and not one to which trade unions could become affiliated. T.U.S.A.A. was active in promoting cultural exchanges with Socialist countries, including visits by Australian delegations to the annual May Day celebrations in Moscow and arranging for Australian trade unionists to study in Bulgaria. Ray Clark was Secretary of the Sydney May Day Committee and of T.U.S.A.A., and chiefly compiled the records listed below.
