These are aerial oblique photographs taken using a specialised aerial camera, some of which aboard an Avro Anson VH-AGO (shown in PXE 731/1675) belonging to Adastra Airways. Following World War II, Adastra became the foremost aerial survey operator in Australia, mapping much of the nation's post-war development for State and Commonwealth Departments and mining companies (information from Curator of Photographs, State Library of New South Wales, 2004). The State Library of New South Wales also holds a large collection of aerial photographs and negatives produced by Adastra Airways, 1937-1976. The collection, stored offsite, comprises (1) c.2300 boxes & c.4000 envelopes of aerial photographs, and (2) c.300 canisters of large film negatives. There is a hard copy volume (228pp.) that provides key indexes to the aerial photographs, with a microfilm copy at CY 4664, frames 1-279.

Aerial views of country NSW towns, rivers, coasts and regions. Also includes Grafton Gorge at Evans Head, Yulgilbar Castle at Evans Head, Gabo Islands, Shell Harbour and Jerringong.

Alphabetical by first title on each leaf. Multiple leaves of the same title are arranged chronologically where possible
