Siobhan McHugh is an internationally recognised oral historian, writer and documentary-maker, Irish-born but Australia-based.

In 1986 Siobhan McHugh was commissioned by the ABC to make an oral history documentary about the Snowy Mountains Hydro-Electric Scheme. She interviewed migrants from 25 nationalities who worked on the project between 1949 and 1974, plus local residents, including those displaced by dams. The ABC series was based on these interviews and was aired on ABC Radio National in six parts in 1987, under the title: 'The Snowy - the people behind the power'.
