Julius Duboc (1829-1903), philosopher and disciple of Ludwig Feuerbach, newspaper editor and author, arrived in Australia from Germany in 1853. ln 1855 he purchased a property, Kangaroo Hills, in the New England district, together with W. Clairmont. It was sold to W. Dangar the following year. Julius Duboc left Australia and returned to Germany in 1857.
Julius' sisters, Charlotte and Juliane, married to cousins Friedrich and Heinrich Bingham, emigrated to Australia in 1850 and 1851. They settled on the land.
Charles Edouard Duboc (1822-1910), brother of Julius, does not seem to have travelled to Australia. Poet and novelist, he wrote under the pseudonym Robert Waldmu[e]ller. Letters he received are included in these family papers.
Alfred Duboc, son of Julius, worked for a French wool buying firm, and spent six months of the year working in Australia. He brought these papers to Australia. They were found in a wool store.
