Arthur Ruffels was born in 1876 at Colyer's Leigh, a property at Moss Vale managed by his father and where, after sub-division, the family ran their own dairy farm. Arthur worked on the farm and at the Manchester Square butter factory. He later moved to Sydney working as a gardener at Burwood and Mosman before joining the Police Force in 1901. - Scope and ContentMemoir (1879 - early 1900s) of his childhood at Moss Vale and early days in the Police Force when he was attached to No. 5 Division at Newtown in Sydney, written ca. 1929-1932; also contains details of family history (1790-1878), press cuttings, and notes by his son Arthur Valentine Ruffels
