Ila May Turnbull, 1900-1990, was an Australian soprano who trained under Madame Goossens at the New South Wales State Conservatorium of Music. In 1921 she became the first student to graduate with a Diploma for Singing, which she completed alongside a Teacher's Diploma.

In 1923 she went to England and studied under Frederick King of the Royal Academy of Music. From there she went to Brussels to study with Maurice de Clery of Theatre Royal de la Monnaie, later returning to London to study with Rosina Buckman and Ferrucchio Cecchini.

Turnbull returned to Sydney in 1925 where she continued to perform, and began her teaching career. In 1934 she was appointed to the teaching staff of the State Conservatorium, where she taught for many years.
