Sir Leslie Herron was born in 1902. He studied law at University of Sydney and was admitted to the Bar in 1925. He was appointed to the Supreme Court Bench in 1941 and was Chief Justice of New South Wales from 1962 to 1972. He was Lieutenant Governor of New South Wales from 1972 until his death in 1973.

Collection includes printed copies of speeches, photographs and documents concerning his swearing-in as Chief Justice of NSW, receiving an honorary Doctor of Laws at the University of NSW and formal farewell on retiring as Chief Justice of NSW
